In terms of scope and outcome it could easily be divided into two sub-specialties:
Reconstructive Surgery
deals with restoration of the disfigured and distorted surface anatomy as well as disturbed function of a certain body part to make it resemble as close to normal as possible. The disfigurement may result from a birth defect (congenital anomaly), an accidental injury or burns, or from the removal of cancer.
Since 1990, our department of plastic surgery has been engaged in providing consultations and surgical treatment for the entire spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgeries. In-patient care and operations are carried out and patients from all over the country have been benefitting from the services provided. In addition, Pakistani expats from different countries have been increasingly treated in recent years following the contemporary trend of getting operated in Pakistan.
