1- What is Anesthesia & why is it important?
Anesthesia refers to the use of medications (anesthetics) to prevent discomfort during surgical or medical procedures. Carefully calculated dosages of anesthesia are extremely important for the success of any surgical or chronic pain-related procedures as they relieve pain and sensation during it.
2- How does Anesthesia work?
Anesthesia works by blocking the pain sensation in the nervous system, relieving us of unwanted physical discomfort during the surgical procedure. Under the effect of general anesthesia, you might be completely unconscious and will not feel anything as the surgery happens.
3- Are there any side effects or risks associated with the use of Anesthesia?
The administration of anesthesia is an overall safe procedure. However, despite all the necessary care taken, some of the patients might experience complications during the surgery. The chances of these complications are increased if you have an underlying medical condition such as obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, etc. Our qualified team of anesthesiologists at HLH will carefully monitor your situation in the operation theatre to prevent any problems.
4- Do I need to stop taking certain medications before my surgery?
Your anesthesiologist will take your clinical history to determine the amount and type of anesthesia to be administered, and will inform you regarding necessary preparations before the surgery.
